Photo: Contributed Photo / Contributed Photo Funerals set for 2 killed in boating accidentBack to GalleryFriends and family are mourning the deaths of the two Fairfield men killed Saturday evening when their boat crashed into the New Haven breakwater, ejecting them.One onto the rocks and the other into Long Island Sound.The 9,000-pound boat struck a rock breakwater wall on the western side of the harbor, killing Michael Murphy, 53, and Scott Trautman, 46. As the investigation of a boating accident continues, funeral services have been set for Murphy and Trautman.Calling hours for Trautman will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield. On Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church of Southport friends may join his family for a service to celebrate Trautman’s life.A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Murphy at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Church, 834 Brookside Drive, Fairfield. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Prior calling hours have been omitted. She passed away Saturday, September 2, 2017 at her residence. Mrs. Bills was the daughter of the late Homer and Rebecca Smith Rodgers. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Bills, son Larry Bills and grandson Roger W. Lambert.She is survived by a son, Robert Bills (Theresa) of Stickney, IL; daughters, Debra Messer (Aubrey "Peanut") of Tigrett, TN, Patty Lambert (Roger) of Berwyn, IL; sisters, Polly Jones and Sharon Kail of Alamo, TN, Susan Baskins and Delores Banks of Memphis, TN; grandchildren, Chastity Turnbow (Jimmy), Chris Messer (Jill), Nicholas Messer, Larry Lambert (Jean), Jeff Bills (Jen), Bobby Bills, Michael Bills (Amy); 14 great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jeff Bills, Bobby Bills, Michael Bills, Chris Messer, Nick Messer and Jimmy Turnbow. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Rice and Steve Rice. Betty June Smith Hooper, 82 of Friendship, Tennessee died on Monday, September 4, 2017, at Tennova Healthcare-Dyersburg Regional in Dyersburg, Tennessee.Born on June 29, 1935 in Chic, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Ollie B. Smith and the late Maggie Etta Woodard Smith. She was a former employee of HECO, former manager of Wesley Hills of Dyersburg and a retired private duty sitter.Funeral services for Mrs. Hooper will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 in the Chapel Of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home with Brother Jim Ennis and Rev.
